Early Models, up to 1999-2000
VU / VUW 182 / 242 / 282E and /1E
Black plastic facia, metal side opening door
Later Models, 2000 - 2005/6
VU / VUW 202 / 824 / 828E
Plastic drop down door, green, amber and red neons.
Green or Beige controls
Diverter Valves:
Usually need replacing every 5 years or so.
Symptoms:
Hot water only works when the boiler is in heating mode, and running.
Plate Heat Exchanger:
Symptoms:
Fluctuating hot water temperature. Hot/cold/hot/cold etc.
Usually more noticeable in the shower.
Remedy:
Can sometimes be rescued with removal and flushing. Indicates heating system is blocking up boiler.
Replacement may be required, and system filter required for future protection.
Plate Heat Exchanger:
Symptoms:
Fluctuating hot water temperature. Hot/cold/hot/cold etc.
Usually more noticeable in the shower.
